  • » CAMAS MEADOWS NATURAL AREA PRESERVE, CHELAN COUNTY, WA
  • The Southeast Region of the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) hired Barker Landscape Architects to provide design and permitting services for the Camas Meadows Natural Area Preserve Environmental Education and Public Access Development Plan. The purpose of the plan is to provide low impact public use and interpretive educational opportunities at the Camas Meadows Natural Area Preserve Project Area, located in Chelan County, approximately 8 miles north of Cashmere, WA.

Barker's Team provided design, permitting and land use and environmental consulting for the development of a parking area with restrooms and an ADA trail on DNR owned property in the Camas Meadows Natural Area Preserve. Camas Meadows is one of forty-nine Natural Area Preserves in the state; managed to protect high-quality examples of the state's native ecosystems and unique and rare plant and animal communities. The majority of the Camas Meadows Preserve consists of lush, fragile wetlands that sport healthy populations of its namesake as well as the Wenatchee Mountains checkermallow and the Wenatchee larkspur, which are found nowhere else in the world.
