LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN + PLANNING

- » MERIDIAN PARK PLAYGROUND, SEATTLE, WA
- The Meridian Park Playground is located on the historic grounds of the Good Shepherd Center in Seattle’s Wallingford Neighborhood. The Friends of Meridian Park Playground applied for and acquired a Neighborhood Matching Fund Grant from the City to renovate the existing play area. In the words of the community the intent for a new play area was, “to create a beautiful and fun playground with an artistic element that will provide children with a safe and interesting place to play, and with easy parental visibility.” The design process for this project involved numerous site visits, several public design workshops as well as meetings with the Friends of Meridian Park Playground and the City of Seattle Parks Department. The design for the playground strives to stay in-keeping with the atmosphere of the surrounding historic estate of the Good Shepherd Center, the Tilth Gardens and the historic orchard. It introduces a children’s literature theme, several new play elements and improving visibility and accessibility.
