LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN + PLANNING

- » NORTHRIDGE PARK, BELLINGHAM, WA
- Northridge Park covers 40 acres of pristine, second growth forest which sits atop a ridgeline in the Mount Baker neighborhood of Bellingham, WA. Site sensitive planning and construction is evident with minimal disturbance to a dense native understory including waist-high sword ferns. The trail carefully meanders between towering Douglas firs, massive cedar nurse logs, and glacial erratics. As it travels alongside and across a series of small wetland areas a permeable sub base and low-impact pin foundation boardwalk is implemented to “float” the trails, avoiding interruption of site surface flows. The park provides local residents with nine trailheads from which to access a bicycle-friendly loop trail system and is often used as a shortcut for local children to run between neighboring households.
